What is kong-Ik?
All male Koreans from age 18~35 have to join the military service for 2 and half years. However, some people can not join the military services because of physical and mental problems. The government made "work" for those people, and that is "Kong-Ik." Instead of joining the military services, those people have to join the kong-ik. I am one of them...hehehe~ Do I have problem with my brain? maybe~~!! Actually, I have really bad back so the government let me work here. There are different types of works... some people work at hospitals, cityhall, post offices, subways, and parks. Sounds pretty good, huh? Sounds a lot better than joining the army~ but that is when I can work those places... There are pretty fucked up works too, and I work one of the most fucked up places~~!!!
Why am I working at such a bad place? because there was no choice. The government choose people randomly, and we have to follow the order no matter what. Some people work at a good place, and some people don't. Everything depends on own luck. I guess I was unlucky~~ hahahaha.
A few years ago, a bridge collapsed and many people were killed. The bridge
was too weak and it caused the accident. The gorvernment decided to protect
other bridges so they made the"work". All I have to do is protecting
a bridge from over loaded trucks. It's like a security job.......but.......
Why can't they build bridges stronger!!??? I don't get it~~~If they
have built them stronger, I don't have to do this work......

This is the place where I work. In the
summer, the temperature goes up to 104F, but there is no air conditioning system!!!
WTF!! How we suppose to work in the summer? We have to work
from 9:00AM~6:00PM in day shift, and 6:00PM~9:00AM in night shift. We
have 3 groups, and each groups have 4~5 people to work. The day shift
is one week and the night shift is two weeks. All 3 groups rotate each
weeks. So how we can survive in the summer? We have this..................

Ha Ha~ Can you believe it??? can you find something different in
this pictures? Yes, the fan was broken so somebody attached a thick paper
on it~ Ha!
Luckly, there is an air conditioning system!! Usually, we take a rest and eat here.
can you see the T.V? We can only hear the sound because the area
can't get the T.V signals!!! What a nice place~~!!!!

I have to breath in all the smoke comes out from them..... Let me tell
you this~ I heard the news the otherday, and it said that the serious
air pollution problem causes limitation of our sight within 0.6 miles in Seoul.
The air sucks here, especailly the area where I work.
It takes 10 minutes to get here. We get water here. Usually we boil the
water in the summer. You know why we have to do it....
This is Chinese food, but you can't find it in China~~ hahahaha. you can
find it only in Korea. It's pretty delicious though~~!! The name
of the nuddle is "Cha Jang Myon." When you guys visit Korea,
try it!!! You will like it. The price is about $2.50~ cheap~
This is the scale to measure weight of trucks. We pull over a truck and measure one side of each tires first. Then, multiple them by 2 and plus all of them. That is how we measure the weight truck. The scale weights around 60 pounds itself......pretty heavy....
I have more bull shit things to talk about, but I will stop here. I'm sure you get an idea what kind of stupid job I'm doing. How many trucks do I have chance to check each day? May be one or two a year~~~!!!!! WTF!! Why do we have to do this work? It's such a wasting time.....Honestly, I don't know about the other jobs, but the work that I'm doing, should be terminated. Anyway, I have to do this job till year 2005~ so I guess I have to just shut up and do my job. Thank you for reading this page~ I will upload more stories and pictures nest time!!!
